Getting Involved
|
|
We believe that the active involvement of our residents is crucial to William Sutton Homes’ success. |
William Sutton Homes has a variety of ways in which it seeks to encourage resident participation and believes that residents' active involvement is key to the delivery of high quality services and customer satisfaction. We are currently reviewing the ways in which we consult and involve residents.
We understand that for many residents it is difficult to commit to attending meetings and so are looking at a whole menu of options to enable people to become involved at a level that suits them and their lifestyle.
Our resident involvement menu may include focus groups, computer based email surveys, text messaging and open days. Where they work successfully we will continue to have residents' associations and estate management committees.
We will begin the review in June through a series of focus groups involving both residents and staff across the country to enable as many of you as possible to have a say in how we involve you.
Outlined below are some of the ways you can currently get involved and plans for our new regional committees:
Residents' Associations
Residents' associations are independent and formally constituted groups run by residents for the benefit of everyone living in the neighbourhood. Recognised Residents' Associations can receive a minimum annual grant of £250 from William Sutton Homes.
Estate Management Committees
These are joint resident/staff committees working to improve the services in the local neighbourhood and support the community. We welcome opportunities to to establish new Estate Management Committees.
Regional Residents Panels
Our regional residents' panels meet four times a year to discuss a wide range of issues around resident participation, and service delivery. The panels are made up of representatives from across our homes.
Regional Committees
To make sure our residents have the opportunity to become involved at the highest level and to extend our governance arrangements across our regions we will soon introduce Regional Committees. These will be in addition to the existing regional residents' panels and will report, through clear terms of reference, direct to the main William Sutton Homes Board.
Each committee will be chaired by a board member and comprise residents members in the main with support from independent members with particular skills and expertise. Regional Directors will also attend these meetings as will key colleagues within the regions.
For more information on recruitment for the regional panels please go to the Publications section.
