Derby residents get a taste of the Wild West
Older residents from Derby enjoyed a Western-themed open day last weekend.
Over 60 people from a sheltered housing scheme at Harold Court, Derby and the surrounding area enjoyed the day which was organised by housing association, William Sutton Homes.
William Sutton staff donned Stetsons, jeans and neck scarves and housing maintenance staff travelled from Nottingham to cook up the Western style barbeque, serving jacket potatoes, beans and sausages.
Residents were entertained with plenty of games, a raffle and bring and buy stall, with face painting for the younger visitors.
Emma Allcock, area housing manager at William Sutton said: “The day was a roaring success and everyone really enjoyed themselves. At William Sutton we try to build communities by providing a varied range of events for residents. We are already planning a speed dating evening in July and a late summer bus trip to Bridlington with people from our Nottingham scheme.”
