Housing association helps local school beat the bullies
Teachers and pupils at a Shenley school are launching a campaign to help beat the bullies with the help of a local housing association.
William Sutton Homes has handed over £2,500 to support the campaign at Shenley Village School. The campaign is supported by the Police Clubs of Great Britain.
The campaign will be launched at Shenley Village School, London Road, Shenley, on Tuesday April 29.
Children will be given an anti-bullying wristband and a copy of the book Barney and Echo, which teaches children about the damaging effect of bullying.
Michelle Reynolds, William Sutton Homes regional housing director, said: “We are very pleased to be supporting the anti-bullying campaign at Shenley School. Although the school itself doesn’t have a problem with bullying it’s essential every child becomes aware of the issue as it could occur in the future.
“At William Sutton Homes we are committed to encouraging strong communities and campaigns like this help everyone to become more supportive of each other.”
Personal health and safety educational teacher Helen Reeve said the pupils would benefit from the campaign.
She said: “We have got a very strong community at school and I think exploring the issue of bullying, which can have such a tremendous affect, will bring us together even further. The books are full of tips for children, parents and teachers so exploring it together will be a good experience for us all.”
