Residents go bananas at healthy eating event
Residents went bananas at a recent healthy eating event – as well as mangoes, carrots and apples. Almost 60 people went along to the event, held in Warrington in the William Sutton estate community room at Ruislip Court, Padgate, Warrington.
Residents tried out fruits like mango and pineapple, before sampling healthy smoothies.
They were also treated to holistic therapy techniques, including massages, reflexology and relaxation exercises.
Everyone who went along was offered a free bag of fruit and vegetables to take home.
Further healthy eating days were staged in Widnes on Thursday March 27 and Newton-le-Willows on Friday March 28.
The events were organised by local affordable housing provider Williams Sutton Homes, in partnership with the Warrington Primary Care Trust and St Helens Borough Council.
William Sutton Homes area housing manager Thurza Cheshire said the event had been a great success.
She said: “We wanted to raise awareness of healthy eating in a fun way and give residents the chance to try well-bring techniques which they had never experienced before.
“Everyone who attended had a great time – the massages were particularly popular.
“People were also very interested in the fresh fruit and vegetables and the advice on making smoothies.
“We hope that the event has shown some of the benefits of keeping fit and healthy and proved that healthy food doesn’t have to be boring.”
