What's going on?
Here’s a brief update on how residents have been ‘stepping forward’ recently.
• Ken Little from Widnes was interviewed as part of the production of the community
investment and resident involvement DVD.
• John Hughes from Derby took part in the recruitment process for the national resident
involvement coordinator post.
• Residents in Borehamwood have been interviewed for a new DVD on the condition of
buildings and surroundings in their area. This will go the Local Planning Authority as part of

All Change!
There have been a number of changes taking place within William Sutton Homes’ Community investment and Resident Involvement teams. Resident Involvement at a local level is now the responsibility of each Area Housing Team who are now the first point of call for residents.
Training Grants
Residents can now access training grants of up to £150 per year from William Sutton Homes! The grant does not have to be claimed all in one go, but can be spread out and used when needed.
Speak to the Community Investment Team or National Resident Involvement Co-ordinator for more information on the range of training options available to you. To contact them, go to the 'Contacts' section under Step Forward in the left hand pane.
Area Housing Team Toolkit
The Area Housing Teams have come together to produce a toolkit to provide residents with the details on how to set up new resident groups.
The toolkit shows you:
-
How to set up a group bank account
-
Understanding how a group is run
-
Roles and responsibilities of the group
-
How to draw up a constitution
-
How to plan a project
-
How you can identify training needs
-
How you can identify funding and much more!
So if you think there is a need for a new resident group in your community, please contact Thurza Cheshire, the National Resident Involvement Co-ordinator. Contact details are in the ‘Contacts’ section under Step Forward in the left hand pane.
